"Kids do well if they can"
Dr Ross Greene.
Excel is proud to have been a part of the Coffs community since 2018 with Directors Lily and Kyle Bodenham leading an amazing team of occupational therapists, therapy assistants and support staff.
At Excel we believe 'Kids do well if they can' (Dr. Ross Greene). Our goal is to work with kids and young people , their families and their support networks collaboratively to understand and celebrate each child's unique individual differences to help them do well. Actually, we want them to excel!
Our values are important to us. They guide how we engage with our clients and underpin our culture as a team.
Fun
"Our work is play". We agree that PLAY is the brain’s favourite way to learn and we think kids should have fun whilst also working towards achieving their goals. Where possible we help children to develop skills through play, often disguising the therapy within a specifically selected or created play activity.
For our staff, we know that one of the ingredients to working in a job that feels sustainable and well- balanced is having FUN and having a good time together.
Learning
We do our upmost to ensure that as therapists and a service we are constantly learning and evolving to provide our client's with the best possible service and best practice interventions and models of practice.
Empowering, educating and supporting kids and parents to learn and grow is the key to kicking goals.
Vulnerability
“Staying vulnerable is a risk we have to take if we want to experience connection.” — Brené Brown
As a team , we believe vulnerability allows us to constantly grow. We don't always have the answers but know that working in partnership with our families will lead to supporting kids to excel.
Creativity
Creativity is essential in what we do and how we do it to ensure that kids and their families are provided with interventions that are strengths and interest based.
Belonging
"True belonging never asks us to change who we are. True belonging requires us to be who we are". Excel is a place where everyone belongs.
Collaboration
Kids and their families are the experts in their therapy journey and collaboration and developing a partnership together is key to helping kids and their families excel.
As staff members of Excel we value having an amazing team who we can collaborate with to ensure the best outcomes for our clients but also our well-being as health professionals.
